We propose a tour to via route 40 by El Calafate -city cradle of imposing glaciers and infinite lakes-, El Chalten -a small town where climbers from all over the world arrive year after year to reach the summit of its imposing mountains - and last (but not least) the possibility of staying in a remote typical Patagonian ranch: Estancia La Maipu. Whose privileged location, with the Andes Mountains in the background and on the shores of Lake San Martín, will allow you to enjoy the authentic Patagonia in its purest and wildest state.

Route 40 Itinerary from Calafate
Day 1 - El Calafate
4 × 2 Vehicle Delivery Class F: 4X2 Renault Duster or similar

Day 2 - Visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier
Visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier, you will be able to observe its steep walls from close up and the roar of the detachment of its ice.
They will see one of the wonders of the world up close, the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier. Normally the visit is half a day.
Accommodation at Hostería Los Hielos. Double room with breakfast.
Day 3 - La Leona Petrified Forest - Travel to El Chalten
It is recommended to leave early from El Calafate and visit "on the way" the petrified forest La Leona .

Day 4 - Mount Fitz Roy Trek
Trekking: Mount Fitz Roy It is the closest walk to Mount Fitz Roy and therefore, the best known of all walks, it is walked for 6.5 hours. In total, we will appreciate the Mount from its best views, and if we are lucky, we will be able to take photos of it without it being covered by clouds!
A full day trek to Laguna de los Tres (1000 meters), at the base of Mount Fitz Roy.
Difficulty: Low, the last 300 meters. with considerable slope.

Day 5 - Trekking Torre viewpoint - Trip to Lake San Martin
Trekking Mirador Maestri (Cerro Torre) Along with Fitz Roy, this is the other most important trek in the area, which ends in a beautiful view of one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the world, Cerro Torre.
They should return to Route 40 with their final destination to Estancia El Condor on Lake San Martin.
Day 6 - Activities at La Maipu Ranch
Unparalleled horseback rides and hikes of different lengths allow you to explore this incredible field. Places such as the condorera, the Colores hill, the Corazón lagoon, the Astillado hill (2,005 mts.), The cajons of the Cóndor and Grande rivers, the spectacular descent of La Nana and the Morro de Las Banderas stand out. All tours always have the impressive view of the great San Martín Lake. At La Nana Post, you can visit the house of the famous Jimmy Radboone, founder of the Estancia.
Some of the activities:
Laguna Corazón (6 hours on horseback). Going along the slopes of Cerro Grande, we cross lenga forests, crossing the valley of the Río Cóndor, to reach Laguna Corazón. Depending on the weather, you can go back skirting a pampa with high grasslands to reach the balconies of Cerro Grande, having beautiful views of Lake San Martín.
Condorera (3 hours on horseback or trekking): Crossing the Freire River and crossing a closed lenga forest, you will reach a 700-meter-high balcony, to contemplate the condors that fly overhead. Beautiful views of Lake San Martín, with all its peninsulas and geographical features.
La Nana Refuge (3 hours on horseback, one way). Going through the romerillos area, through the moray eels that overlook Lake San Martín, we headed across the Rio Grande, to Jimmy Rabdone's old post, La Nana.
The different trekkings and fishing activities are included in the price of accommodation. The rides are reserved and paid on site.
Day 7 - Return to El Calafate
