Although the South Georgia and Sandwich Islands do not actually belong to Antarctica (they are part of the UK), we had to list them as the top places to visit without mentioning this place.
They have been called the Serengeti of the Southern Ocean because of the abundance of wildlife that congregates there.
Hundreds of thousands of king penguins can be seen on the beaches, 4-ton elephant seals fighting each other for a mate, and the world’s largest bird, the Wandering Albatross.
